Students will practice evaluating functions and solving for x given a function. The problems range in difficulty. Some are basic input while others require operations outside the function or the combination of more than one function, such as “find c(5) – b(12)” or “find -2[d(-7)] – 31” This activity was created for an Algebra 1 level class.
Simply give each student the template and set of functions. They evaluate each function, cut out the boxes, then paste them onto the template so that each solution is the sum of the two solutions directly above it. See the preview for more detailed directions and photos. Actual answers not shown in the cover photo above!
This activity works very well in conjunction with my Algebra 1 Relations and Functions Unit.
